Jammu, Mar 31 (KNO): The Jammu-Srinagar national highway continues to remain close due to bad weather conditions and shooting stones hampering the restoration process. According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), officials said that at three separate locations on highway between Banihal and Ramban, land sliding incidents took place in last 48 hours with continuous shooting stones at Monkey Morh is posing a big threat for workers engaged in highway restoration work. Similarly, officials said, not only landslide but a portion of road had also caved in at a particular location resulting major damage. Talking to KNO, Senior Superintendent of Police, Highway Traffic, J S Johar said that besides multiple landslides, a highway portion has caved in and attempts are on to clear the stretch for traffic. He said that under present circumstances, we are hopeful that highway will get restored within next 24 to 48 hours,” he said. Talking to KNO, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir P K Pole said that there is no shortage of essentials in Kashmir and that LPG, ration, food grains are available for the people for two months. “Nothing to worry. Essentials are available in adequate quantity and there is not that much demand for LPG etc due to spring season. We are taking care of all needs of people,” he said—(KNO)
